The investment seeks long-term growth of capital. Under normal circumstances, the fund will invest at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings made for investment purposes) in equity securities. Equity securities may include common stocks and preferred stocks. Under normal market conditions, it will invest at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings made for investment purposes) in securities of U.S. issuers. The fund's approach to equity investing combines the styles of two subadvisers in selecting securities for each of the fund's segments.
