Matthews International Capital Management CEO Bill Hackett is going to retire from the firm in mid-2022. Hackett joined the firm in 2007 as president and became its CEO in 2009 (at which time the president role was eliminated). A search is currently underway for his replacement. Meanwhile, global head of distribution Frank Wheeler will retire from the firm at the end of 2021. Wheeler, who joined the firm in 2013, also has a product-management role and supervises the firm's portfolio strategists. Jonathan Schuman, who currently serves as the global head of sales and client services, will add Wheeler's distribution responsibilities to his purview at the end of the year. A search is underway for someone to take over Wheeler's product management role, while CIO Robert Horrocks will take over supervision of the portfolio strategists.
