MFS Utilities Fund Class R4 MMUJX

On Dec. 1, 2025, MFS announced that portfolio manager Claud Davis intends to retire from the firm and the fund on Sept. 30, 2026. Davis has been a named manager on the fund since April 2014 and has comanaged with Scott Walker since August 2019. Walker will serve as the sole portfolio manager after Davis’ departure and maintain the current process. Davis and Walker served as good sounding boards for each other; individually, Davis brought extensive experience to the table, especially in analyzing domestic electric utilities and energy. Given Walker’s significant tenure here already, the transition should be smooth. Walker is an even-keeled, very logical, forthright investor. Given his steady hand and extensive experience, and the solid analyst backing from MFS, the fund’s Above Average People rating still applies.
