4 J.P. Morgan Target-Date Series Under Review in Light of Impending Process Changes

Analyst Note

| |

On Sept. 8, 2021, J.P. Morgan announced upcoming changes that impact four strategies under Morningstar analyst coverage: the JPMorgan SmartRetirement mutual fund series, the JPMorgan SmartRetirement Blend mutual fund series, and both series’ CIT counterparts. During 2022’s first quarter, each series in the suite will begin adapting its post-retirement allocations, aiming to fund investors’ withdrawals until age 100. J.P. Morgan has laid the groundwork for this change over several years, but the impact on investors warrants deliberation, and we place the Morningstar Analyst Ratings of all four series Under Review. The four series’ previous Morningstar Analyst Ratings ranged from Gold to Neutral across share classes.
