Summary

Harbor International’s investment process remains its best draw. Marathon Asset Management has subadvised this offering since August 2018 and may be finding its footing after a difficult period. This storied London-based shop has the pedigree to attract strong investors but had a hard time finding permanent fits from 2018 to 2021. New talent was—and remains—critical for the firm as it finalizes a transition away from its long-tenured founders. Bill Arah, the last active founder, continues to manage the largest sleeve of Japanese equities for this stratified fund, but his retirement isn’t too far away.
