Champlain Mid Cap reopened all share classes to new investors on Jan. 17, 2023. The reopening comes after its asset base depreciated from a peak of roughly $14 billion at year-end 2021 to $10 billion one year later. The strategy remains one of the largest in the mid-cap growth Morningstar Category, so capacity will be worth monitoring closely, but Champlain has a history of prudent capacity management across all its strategies. This one closed to new investors in late 2017 when assets were around $5 billion, with appreciation rather than flows driving its subsequent growth.
