American Funds’ parent Capital Group announced that on May 1, 2023, Thomas Hogh, a fixed-income manager on American Funds Global Balanced since 2018, will step down in advance of his retirement from the firm on July 1. Joining the fund on May 1 in that role is Philip Chitty, an 18-year veteran of the firm who has comanaged American Funds Capital World Bond (which earns an Average People rating as of Feb. 2, 2023) since 2019. His addition here is appropriate, as Hogh and Andrew Cormack (this fund’s other fixed-income manager) are Chitty’s current comanagers on American Funds Capital World Bond. These changes don’t detract from our confidence in the team at American Funds Global Balanced, which is also run by several proven equity managers. The fund continues to earn an Above Average People rating and Morningstar Analyst Ratings of Silver or Bronze (depending on share class).
