Analyst Note

Capital Group has announced that manager Greg Wendt will come off AMCAP on May 1, 2024. At that time, Michael Beckwith, a previously undisclosed manager with 25 years of investment experience (including five years at Capital Group), will officially join the management ranks. Wendt’s tenure here was short: Capital Group had named him a manager in 2020, though his service dated to May 2019. That said, his main focus has always been on American Funds Smallcap World SMCWX, where he is the lead principal investment officer. Tapping Beckwith to manage alongside seven other managers, including veteran James Terrile, who oversees the entire offering, helps retain the strategy’s Above Average People rating and its respective Morningstar Medalist Ratings.
