The investment seeks total return and to provide current income. Under normal circumstances, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in preferred securities and other income-producing securities. The fund invests in both domestic and foreign securities. The fund may invest in securities that, at the time of issuance, are eligible to pay dividends that qualify for favorable U.S. federal income tax treatment, such as dividends treated as qualified dividend income.
