Evotec: Shares Plummet as Halozyme Withdraws EUR 2 Billion Buyout Offer

Halozyme Therapeutics has withdrawn its takeover proposal for no-moat Evotec. The initial offer, which aimed to acquire the German drug discovery and development company at EUR 11 per share, implied a fully diluted equity value of EUR 2 billion. This move follows Evotec’s indication of no interest in pursuing acquisition discussions. In response to this development, Evotec's shares on the German exchange have dropped over 15%, and they are now trading at roughly the pretakeover announcement price. We are maintaining our fair value estimates of EUR 8.50 and $4.63 per share for the stock.
