The Week Ahead: Inflation, Retail Sales Data Lead

Jeremy Glaser: Earnings are quiet this week, but we do have a handful of data releases on tap.

Inflation will be in focus with the consumer price index on Thursday. Price levels have been a major question mark for the economy, and the market (and of course the Fed) will be watching this release closely.

Friday will bring two snapshots of the state of the consumer. Retail sales is the most important one, but the University of Michigan consumer sentiment index will also be eyed.

And finally, industrial production will round out the week's releases. Stay tuned for our take on these stories.
