With Advisor Managed Accounts, Morningstar Investment Management is responsible for matching portfolios you create as the plan's financial advisor with retirement plan participants.


Why choose Advisor Managed Accounts (AMA) over Managed Accounts (MA)?

Although there are plenty of similarities between AMA and MA, there are four key differentiators:

1. AMA strengthens your relationship with plan sponsors
This service is a natural extension of the plan-level services you already provide to plan sponsors. AMA allows you to select the funds and asset classes that are appropriate for plan sponsor clients and their constituents.

2. AMA allows you to implement a scalable advice strategy
Apply your unique investment philosophy without having to worry about recordkeeper integration, managed account operations, or developing a user interface.

3. AMA helps participants save
Investors can benefit from a more customized solution to help them reach their retirement goals.

4. AMA gives you more control
With AMA, you have full discretion over the investments you want to use in the retirement plan so you can design participant portfolios that align with your views and philosophy on fund selection.


How will participants interact with Advisor Managed Accounts (AMA)?

Through our interface, participants receive a retirement savings strategy that incorporates the portfolios you’ve built. They can access the interface through a link on their plan provider’s website. After they’ve had a chance to review and update information about themselves and their financial situation, their personalized retirement savings plan will generate in just a few moments. At any point, they can update their information and their strategy will adjust accordingly.


What type of assistance can Morningstar Investment Management’s Regional Sales Director (RSD) team provide?

The Morningstar Investment Management RSD team is spread out across the country and is available to support you in growing new and existing business and helping your plan sponsor clients engage plan participants. The RSD team can support you with:

What type of training is available?

A best practice of Morningstar Investment Management is to conduct at least one training per year for your firm. However, the RSD team is available to conduct additional trainings throughout the year on topics such as methodology, ERISA/fiduciary topics, human capital, competitors, and the value of managed accounts.

Contact your home office to see when the next training is scheduled or reach out to the RSD in your territory to inquire about scheduling a training at an alternate time.
