In the retirement solutions group at Morningstar Investment Management LLC, a subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. and a registered investment adviser, our advocacy for the individual investor extends to the workplace retirement market where the responsibility for investing and saving now rests with employees. Although there are plenty of similarities between advisor managed accounts and managed accounts, there are three key differentiators:

This service is a natural extension of the plan-level services you already provide to plan sponsors. advisor managed accounts allows you to select the funds and asset classes that are appropriate for plan sponsor clients and their constituents.

Apply your unique investment philosophy without having to worry about recordkeeper integration, managed account operations, or developing a user interface.
3. Advisor managed accounts gives you more control
With advisor managed accounts, you have full discretion over the investments you want to use in the retirement plan so you can design participant portfolios that align with your views and philosophy on fund selection.
How will participants interact with Advisor Managed Accounts?
Through our interface, participants receive a retirement savings strategy that incorporates the portfolios you’ve built. They can access the interface through a link on their plan provider’s website. After they’ve had a chance to review and update information about themselves and their financial situation, their personalized retirement savings plan will generate in just a few moments. At any point, they can update their information and their strategy will adjust accordingly.

What type of training is available?
A best practice of Morningstar Investment Management is to conduct at least one training per year for your firm. However, the regional sales team is available to conduct additional trainings throughout the year on topics such as methodology, ERISA/fiduciary topics, human capital, competitors, and the value of managed accounts.
Contact your home office to see when the next training is scheduled or reach out to the regional sales director in your territory to inquire about scheduling a training at an alternate time.
