CALEXITNOW SEEKS DISQUALIFICATION OF CALIFORNIA REPUBLICAN PARTY AS LEGISLATIVE OUTREACH CAMPAIGN GAINS MOMENTUM

Petition to Secretary of State coincides with legislative outreach drawing responses from over 40% of California lawmakers and more than 55% of elected Democrats
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- CalExitNow announced two developments today: a formal petition seeking an investigation into grounds for disqualifying the California Republican Party from future elections, and a legislative lobbying initiative generating substantial responses from California lawmakers in less than one week.

PETITION SEEKS REPUBLICAN PARTY DISQUALIFICATION
CalExitNow founder Marcus Ruiz-Evans is submitting a formal petition to Secretary of State Shirley Weber, with a copy to Attorney General Rob Bonta, requesting an examination of whether the California Republican Party has engaged in conduct warranting disqualification under California Elections Code Sections 5102, 5154, and 5200.
The petition cites President Donald Trump's October 5 statements concerning potential Iranian attacks against Los Angeles and San Diego, responses by Republican officials, and documented support for federal military deployments within California.
It requests investigation of whether organizational conduct attributable to the California Republican Party satisfies statutory grounds for disqualification, followed by appropriate action if sufficient evidence establishes a violation.
The petition is being transmitted electronically November 6, with certified-mail copies scheduled for November 7.
LEGISLATIVE OUTREACH PRODUCES SUBSTANTIAL RESPONSE
Separately, CalExitNow launched a statewide lobbying initiative this week, directly contacting legislators to request meetings concerning a proposed Joint Resolution authorizing a formal governmental examination of California sovereignty.
In less than one week, more than 40% of the entire California Legislature and over 55% of its elected Democratic members have responded to initial unsolicited contacts. Nearly 45% of all legislators have already participated in meetings or scheduled meetings over the next two weeks, with additional responses continuing to arrive.
The proposed Joint Resolution would initiate a formal governmental examination of all lawful, peaceful pathways through which California might separate from the United States. A contemplated Blue Ribbon Commission would study constitutional, economic, diplomatic, security, and governmental considerations.
CalExitNow remains confident that the Joint Resolution could be introduced in both legislative chambers on December 7, 2026, the opening day of California's 2027–2028 legislative session.
"The response from California legislators demonstrates a substantial willingness to examine the state's constitutional options," said J.J. Ames, Jr., Political Director of CalExitNow. "Our objective is a serious, orderly governmental examination of the lawful and peaceful alternatives available to California."
