Expanded 3D preoperative planning library gives surgeons greater implant choice across primary and revision total hip arthroplasty
TORONTO, Nov. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Surgical Planning Associates (SPA), a medical technology company specializing in preoperative planning and navigation solutions for joint arthroplasty, today announced the addition of five implant systems to the preoperative 3D planning library of its HipInsight System®, including more triple taper stem systems.

The expansion includes additional femoral and acetabular systems from Enovis, Maxx Orthopedics, MicroPort Orthopedics, Smith+Nephew and Zimmer Biomet, further extending the implant options available to surgeons using HipInsight's open-platform technology. The HipInsight System also includes implant portfolios from DePuy Synthes, Total Joint Orthopedics and Advita Ortho bringing the library to over 35 implant systems.
By supporting a broader range of implant systems, HipInsight enables surgeons to incorporate their preferred implants into patient-specific 3D preoperative planning for primary and revision total hip arthroplasty. This flexibility supports an implant-agnostic approach, allowing surgeons to select implants based on individual patient anatomic and clinical needs.
"We are very pleased that surgeons who use our implants can now utilize a proven enabling technology for their total hip procedures," said Farzin Khaghani, Chief Commercial Officer at Maxx Orthopedics.
"I use different implants depending on each patient's specific anatomy and needs. I appreciate the open-platform capacity that the HipInsight System offers, allowing me to select from a broad range of implants for my primary and revision cases," said Gregory Klingenstein, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Virtua Reconstructive Orthopedics, who prefers using the superior approach for his total hip replacements.
Micah Adamson, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Orthopedic Centers of Colorado, described how the system supports his direct anterior total hip replacement workflow:
"The 3D preoperative planning from HipInsight gives me a better understanding of each patient's unique anatomy, including their pelvic tilt. I have a clear plan going into each case, and the predictive images, included in each patient's plan, provide an efficient way to verify implant positioning during the operation."
Showcasing the Next Stage of HipInsight Technology at AAHKS 2026
SPA will exhibit at the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) 2026 Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas, on November 6–7, showcasing updates to the HipInsight System's open-platform, including enhanced Smart Fluoro verification of implant positioning against the preoperative 3D plan.
"Surgeons shouldn't have to change implants to access advanced planning and navigation," said Stephen B. Murphy, MD, Founder and CEO of Surgical Planning Associates. "Every system we add strengthens HipInsight as the open alternative for hip arthroplasty, and the enhancements we're demonstrating at AAHKS are designed to carry that precision from the clinic seamlessly into the operating room."
Attendees can learn more about the HipInsight System and its latest technology updates at Booth #1603.
