Bilingual advisors at Las Madrinas de los Seguros explain coverage options, new federal enrollment requirements and Medicaid changes in English and Spanish, at no cost.
MIAMI, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ACA open enrollment for 2027 began Sunday, November 1, and runs through January 15, 2027, in states using the federal Marketplace. Families should enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Madrinas Insurance (Las Madrinas de los Seguros), the bilingual health insurance agency that has helped insure more than 2.5 million people, is urging families in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Texas and nationwide to review their options.

New federal rules change how people enroll. Shoppers must approve their agent through a one-time text or email link, and people new to the Marketplace may need to verify their identity. Starting with tax year 2026, families who receive more premium tax credit than they qualify for must repay the full difference.
"Financial assistance remains available to eligible families through the ACA Marketplace," said Vanessa Marie Vazquez, CFO of Madrinas Insurance. "Review your plan instead of letting it auto-renew, and don't wait until the last week. Our teams will explain your options clearly and stay with you all year."
ACA vs. Medicaid
Medicaid is a state and federal program for people who meet certain eligibility requirements, including income. ACA Marketplace plans are private health insurance, and many families qualify for financial assistance that lowers their monthly costs. As Medicaid eligibility rules change, Madrinas helps families whose Medicaid is ending or has ended, including pregnant women losing coverage, transition to an ACA plan without a gap in care. Losing Medicaid generally opens a Special Enrollment Period, subject to eligibility requirements. Learn more at madrinasinsurance.com/medicaid-transition.
Who Qualifies and How to Enroll
Families can call 855-MADRINA (855-623-7462), seven days a week from 7 a.m. to midnight, or check eligibility at madrinasinsurance.com. A licensed bilingual advisor compares health insurance plans from leading carriers, explains coverage options, handles the paperwork and can complete enrollment in as little as 15 minutes, at no cost.
Educating the community starts with educating its advisors. During its annual convention, Madrinas Insurance provided advisors with updates from more than a dozen carriers, including UnitedHealthcare, Oscar, Ambetter Health, Molina Healthcare, AvMed, AmeriHealth Caritas, Harbor Health and Cigna.
"Nobody has to figure this out alone," said Ammer Cabrera, CEO of Madrinas Insurance. "A Madrina is one call away."
