Simplifies complex testing while reducing reliance on manual scripting and specialized expertise
CHANDLER, Ariz., Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- VIAVI Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAV) has announced the integration of a Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server Framework into the NITRO® AI portfolio, enabling engineers to configure, run and analyze tests using natural-language prompts. The framework integrates with the VIAVI TestCenter (network performance testing), CyberFlood (security and application performance testing) and TeraVM (secure access/ZTNA testing) platforms.

Traditional lab automation requires engineers to manually configure script and maintain connections across a growing ecosystem of test and measurement tools. As network and security architectures evolve at an unprecedented rate, manual test configuration and automation have become increasingly difficult to scale. As AI agents and agentic workflows become part of network and security operations, test infrastructure must be able to participate in those same AI-driven workflows.
The integration of VIAVI's award-winning MCP Server Framework simplifies the interaction between infrastructure testing tools and AI clients, and reduces reliance on GUIs, scripts or APIs. The framework exposes testing functions as standardized tools that AI agents can discover and execute through conversational commands. By translating natural-language requests into test actions, the MCP Server Framework shifts the focus from needing deep product, testing and scripting expertise to intent- and outcome-driven validation workflows for complex test environments.
The MCP Server Framework includes an autonomous error correction loop to detect and self-correct test tool misconfigurations, with human review checkpoints maintaining oversight and safe operations at critical points in the testing process. Structured AI workflows provide the context needed to improve reliability, while real-time data allows tests to adapt as results arrive.
"Network infrastructure is evolving faster than the supply of specialists who can validate it, so validation has to become AI-native," said Sashi Jeyaretnam, Senior Director, Security Product Management, VIAVI. "The MCP Server Framework helps close that gap by reducing time-to-test and operational cost while making complex validation accessible to a broader range of engineers."
