CHICAGO, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Barchart, a leading provider of market data and technology services to the global commodity industry, today announced the launch of cmdtyView Labs, a new developer offering that provides direct, programmatic access to the comprehensive market data available within cmdtyView.
Designed for developers, quantitative analysts and technical teams, cmdtyView Labs allows individual users to incorporate real-time quotes, historical time series, forward curves, options analytics and other commodity market data and information into proprietary applications, quantitative models, automated workflows and internal systems.

Unlike traditional cloud-based or enterprise APIs, cmdtyView Labs connects locally to the cmdtyView Desktop application through a WebSocket connection. Data is delivered using an efficient Protocol Buffer feed, helping eliminate unnecessary network round trips and provide low-latency delivery for time-sensitive applications.
Through cmdtyView Labs, users can:
- Access real-time commodity market data and information through WebSocket streams
- Retrieve historical OHLC data through HTTP JSON endpoints
- Incorporate forward curves, historical time series, options analytics and market quotes into custom applications
- Use official SDKs for Python, C#/.NET, Java, Go, JavaScript and Rust
- Rely on cmdtyView Desktop to manage authentication, market data entitlements and upstream connectivity
- Build workflows supporting quantitative research, algorithmic trading, risk management, market analysis and compliance reporting
The cmdtyView Labs architecture uses a local proxy embedded within cmdtyView Desktop. Once enabled, developers can connect their code directly to the desktop runtime, while cmdtyView handles authentication and data permissions behind the scenes. This allows users to begin working with market data without building and maintaining a separate authentication or connectivity layer.
Official software development kits provide built-in support for establishing connections, processing Protocol Buffer data and managing reconnections. Users also receive access to technical documentation, implementation guides, sample code and dedicated engineering support.
