Version 26.4 brings the SelectPdf API to Linux and Docker with no system packages to install, and adds PDF/A-4, PDF/UA-2, Word to PDF, redaction and signature validation.
BUCHAREST, Romania, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SelectPdf, a developer of HTML to PDF and PDF tools for .NET since 2014, today released version 26.4, including SelectPdf.Universal, its new flagship .NET PDF library. SelectPdf.Universal runs on Windows (x64 and x86), Linux (x64 and ARM64) and macOS on Apple Silicon, and targets .NET 8 and .NET 10, with .NET Standard 2.0 support for other runtimes.
SelectPdf.Universal keeps the API SelectPdf developers already know: 82% of the classic library's public types and members carry over unchanged apart from the namespace, which is now SelectPdf.Universal. A migration guide in the documentation lists every change.
Linux and Docker without system packages. The Linux native package bundles everything the Chromium rendering engine needs; an optional package adds fonts for every script. There is no apt-get step, no X server and no special container flags. Conversions over HTTPS were verified on Debian 12, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 24.04 and Amazon Linux 2023.
The PDF 2.0 generation of the library. SelectPdf.Universal adds PDF/A-4 (including 4E and 4F) and PDF/UA-2 for long-term archiving and accessible documents, and AES-256 (revision 6) and AES-GCM encryption. ZUGFeRD / Factur-X e-invoicing, including the EN 16931 and XRechnung profiles, is new in the commercial edition of both the classic and the Universal library.
New document workflows in the commercial SelectPdf.Universal package:
- Word to PDF: converts DOCX, DOC, RTF, Markdown and other formats, with optional PDF/UA and PDF/A output.
- Redaction: removes text, images, links and form fields by area, by text or by regular expression.
- Signature validation: checks digital signatures, with optional OCSP/CRL revocation checks.
SelectPdf.Universal also offers an asynchronous conversion API with cancellation, and runs up to eight conversions in parallel by default.
"SelectPdf.Universal brings the SelectPdf API .NET teams already know to Windows, Linux, macOS on Apple Silicon and Docker, with no system packages to install," said Florentin Badea of SelectPdf.
Availability and pricing. SelectPdf 26.4 and SelectPdf.Universal are available now on NuGet as SelectPdf.Universal (commercial) and SelectPdf.HtmlToPdf.Universal (free Community Edition, HTML to PDF up to 5 pages), plus a native package for each platform. The classic SelectPdf library continues to be maintained, with support for .NET Framework 2.0 and later on Windows. A free trial is available.
