New program combines patient education with affordable, in-home medication disposal to help reduce the risks of unused medications in the home.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C., Aug. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- DisposeRx®, the leader of in-home medication disposal, today announced a new partnership with ExpressRx to launch the DisposeRx Singles program across all 26 of the company's retail pharmacy locations.

The initiative is designed to do more than provide patients with an easy disposal solution—it also helps raise awareness about an often-overlooked medication safety issue. Many families are unaware that any unused or expired medications left in the home- not just opioids- can increase the risk of accidental poisoning, intentional misuse by family members or visitors, and accidental ingestion by children and pets.

By placing DisposeRx Singles directly on pharmacy counters, ExpressRx is making it easier for pharmacists to start these important medication safety conversations while offering patients a simple, affordable way to safely dispose of medications at home.

"Community pharmacists are among the most trusted healthcare professionals and have a unique opportunity to educate patients about medication safety," said William Simpson, CEO at DisposeRx. "We're proud to partner with ExpressRx to help make those conversations easier and give patients an immediate solution they can take home."

Each DisposeRx Singles packet is paired with patient education that explains why timely medication disposal matters and how DisposeRx can quickly and easily deactivate unused medications for safe disposal in household trash.

"At ExpressRx, we're committed to helping our patients stay safe long after they leave the pharmacy," said Matt Wilson, RVP of Pharmacy Operations at ExpressRx. "Offering DisposeRx Singles at every pharmacy counter allows our teams to educate patients about the hidden risks of keeping unused medications in the home while providing an affordable solution they can use immediately."

The rollout reflects ExpressRx's commitment to expanding patient education, promoting responsible medication management, and helping families reduce the risks associated with unused medications in the home.
