Check out the 2025 Lamborghini Urus SE, a plug-in hybrid with 789 hp and a V8 engine

By Jeff Glucker

It's not really about efficiency

Lamborghini is embracing electrification. Not fully electric, mind you. And not for efficiency's sake, either. Instead, I'm talking about wild power for a wild ride. Meet the 2025 Lamborghini Urus SE, a plug-in hybrid-powered super SUV.

How super? How does 789 horsepower and 701 lb-ft of torque sound? Pretty good, actually, since the majority of that power comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. The other chunk is delivered by way of an electric motor integrated into the 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Lamborghini claims the Urus SE can deliver up to 37 miles of pure EV driving, too. I imagine most owners won't employ that since the temptation to mass the throttle and hear eight cylinders firing away is just too great.

The Urus SE utilizes a 25.9-kilowatt-hour battery pack, which is located under the rear cargo space. There's an 11-kilowatt onboard charger. And you should expect a charging time of around 2.5 hours. You can also expect a 0-62 mph time of 3.4 seconds. Pretty incredible for something that most likely weighs north of 5,500 pounds.
