Remitly Global Card Expands Nationwide, Adds Ability to Send and Request Money Across the U.S.
SEATTLE, Nov. 04, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Remitly Global Card customers in the United States can now send and request money from one another across the country for the first time. The new Global Card feature makes it easier to manage everyday financial needs both domestically and abroad, bringing more money movement activities together in one place, including getting paid, spending, saving, borrowing, and sending money.
Starting this week the Global Card will be generally available to all eligible U.S. customers, expanding access beyond the initial phased invite-only rollout.
“Remittances are our foundation, and the Global Card is how we build on it,” said Sebastian J. Gunningham, CEO of Remitly. “Our trusted global network moves money safely to more than 175 countries in seconds, with one tap. Now, we’re building on that foundation to meet more of our customers’ financial needs in one place. With the Remitly Global Card, paying your roommate and sending money to family in Manila are equally seamless. Think Venmo without borders. Sending money across the U.S. is more than a new feature, it’s a step toward becoming the money home for the world’s movers. And we’re just getting started.”
For Remitly customers, managing their financial lives isn’t just about sending money abroad. It’s also about everyday needs at home, like paying a roommate their share of the rent, chipping in for a cousin’s wedding, or paying back a coworker for gas on the carpool to work. Previously, customers needed a separate, external app or payment service to manage these transactions. Now, they can simply send and request money in the U.S. in one place with the Global Card:
- Send: Customers can send money directly from their Global Card balance to another eligible Global Cardholder within the experience or via text.
- Request: Global Card customers can request money from another Global Cardholder or share a request link with anyone. If the recipient isn't yet a Global Card customer, the link guides them through a simple signup to join Remitly and complete the payment process.
The feature was developed by a cross-functional team and moved from concept to launch in just a few months, underscoring Remitly’s ability to quickly build and deliver new experiences for customers.
The Remitly Global Card combines one-of-a-kind features including our best remittance prices to over 175 countries, faster and lower-cost sends, no-fee everyday spending, a bank account for everyone, the ability to hold and move money in fiat currency or USDC, instant transfers between Remitly Global Cardholders, no foreign transaction fees, direct deposit, and global ATM access, among other features. Eligible customers can also access credit, SmartRate, eSIM, and other benefits through the Remitly Global Card Membership plan.
