Data-Center Stocks Continue to Fall After Democrats Win Congress
By Connor Hart
Cloud-infrastructure and artificial-intelligence stocks continued to fall, two days after a historic midterm defeat for Republicans.
The election results heightened concerns surrounding potential grid interconnection delays, stricter environmental reviews, and local moratoriums on high-density power and water usage in key hubs like Texas.
In short: Building data centers is "going to be harder," Meta Platforms President Dina Powell McCormick said Wednesday at the WSJ Tech conference.
Shares of CoreWeave, the Nvidia-backed compute provider, fell 4.1% to $46.46 shortly after Thursday's opening bell.
Applied Digital, Core Scientific, IREN, Hut 8 and Nebius Group were all trading lower as well, with declines ranging from 2.8% to 7.1%.
