Chocolate Maker Barry Callebaut's Sales Volumes Rebound

By Aimee Look

Barry Callebaut's fourth-quarter sales volumes rebounded, but fiscal-year revenue slumped with subdued demand for cocoa weighing on results.

The Swiss chocolatier logged 12.19 billion Swiss francs ($14.85 billion) in sales revenue for the fiscal year, down 15.2% on a constant-currency basis. Analysts had expected 12.49 billion francs, according to company-compiled consensus.

Sales volumes in the fourth quarter grew 5.7%, as it cited strong increases particularly in Western Europe.

Callebaut booked a 22.2% fall in global cocoa sales revenue for the fiscal year to 3.55 billion francs. Company-compiled analyst consensus expected 3.73 billion francs.

However, the company said growth in the segment turned positive in the second half on elevated demand due to a market correction earlier in the year.

For its global chocolate segment, chocolate sales revenue fell 12% on a constant-currency basis to 8.64 billion francs, while analysts expected 8.76 billion francs.

For the 2027 fiscal year, Callebaut said it expects to deliver between 1% to 3% volume growth.
