ICE Canola Lower, Touches 3-Month Lows
WINNIPEG, Manitoba--ICE Futures canola contracts were weaker, touching fresh three-month lows in choppy trade.
January canola was down 7.90 Canadian dollars at C$780.50 per metric ton on Tuesday after trading within a wide range from C$775.00 to C$790.80 per ton.
Chart-based selling was a feature, with bearish technical signals suggesting a move towards major support around C$750 per ton was possible, an analyst said.
Chicago soybeans, European rapeseed and Malaysian palm oil were lower on the day, accounting for some spillover selling pressure.
However, Chicago soyoil was slightly firmer.
The canola harvest has wrapped up across most of Western Canada, limiting farmer selling pressure.
An estimated 36,100 canola contracts traded as of 11:13 a.m. EST.
