Alamar Biosciences Partners with GSK on Large-Scale Proteomic Study

By Stephen Nakrosis

Alamar Biosciences said it would use its Nulisa platform to collaborate with GSK to study circulating protein signatures and disease progression.

The study will examine how circulating protein signatures relate to disease progression, biological subtypes and treatment response across respiratory, liver, kidney, neurological and autoimmune conditions, Alamar said.

The collaboration intends to generate insights to advance precision prevention, treatment and earlier disease detection in real-world health care settings, the company added.

The study will analyze over 60,000 serum samples, using the Nulisaseq Immune 340 and Nulisaseq Neuro 220 panels. Many diseases that share a clinical diagnosis encompass biologically distinct patient populations, which contributes to differences in disease progression and treatment response, Alamar said.

The profiling is designed to generate a deep biomarker dataset spanning disease areas where non-uniform elements have historically made therapeutic development difficult, according to the company.

Alamar also said its platform is designed to detect protein biomarkers at extremely low concentrations in blood with ultra-high sensitivity, among other features.
