Oracle Looks to Raise $20 Billion to Fund AI Ambitions

By Kelly Cloonan

Oracle plans to raise $20 billion in debt and equity as it looks to finance its artificial intelligence infrastructure buildout.

The software company is selling $10 billion in common stock and $10 billion in bonds, according to separate filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday.

Oracle said it would use the proceeds from the sales for general corporate purposes, which it said could include capital expenditures, debt repayment, dividends and future investments or acquisitions.

Oracle said last week it wouldn't raise more than $20 billion in additional funding in the capital markets through fiscal 2030, and projected that its capital expenditures would peak this fiscal year and into the next fiscal year before stepping down in fiscal 2029, when it expects to start funding its own growth.

Oracle has rushed to line up financing to pay for its data center buildout and chip purchases, raising billions this year by selling stock and debt. Some investors have raised concerns over the company's debt, weighing on its shares.
