CIBC Taps Canada's Former Finance Minister Bill Morneau as Chair

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce named former Finance Minister Bill Morneau as its next chair.

Morneau will succeed Katharine Stevenson, who is set to retire at the end of the year after six years as chair and 10 as an independent director.

Morneua, who has been an independent director of CIBC since 2022, served as Canada's minister of finance and as a member of parliament from 2015 to 2020. During that time, he was also governor of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

Morneau currently serves as Chair of NovaSource Power Services and as a Director at Clairvest Group.
