Tesco to Sell Czech Republic, Slovakia Businesses to Ahold Delhaize for $1.3 Billion
By Aimee Look
Britain's Tesco agreed to sell businesses in the Czech Republic and Slovakia to Ahold Delhaize 1.2 billion euros net--equivalent to $1.34 billion--as the Dutch grocer seeks to expand its scale in Europe.
The U.K. grocery chain said Friday it anticipates the sale to Ahold to complete in the second half of 2027, and is subject to regulatory approvals.
On a cash and debt-free basis, the deal has a total enterprise value of 1.7 billion euros, according to Tesco.
The acquisition aims to bolster Ahold's position in central and southeastern Europe, and the Amsterdam-listed company said it expects to generate revenue growth and synergies.
