Clorox Names Unilever's Fabian Garcia as CEO
By Robb M. Stewart
Clorox has hired Unilever executive Fabian Garcia as its next chief executive.
The parent of its name-sake brand and cupboard staples including Pine-Sol, Purell and Liquid-Plumr said Garcia will step into the role effective Jan. 5, succeeding Linda Rendle who announced in May that she was stepping down for health reasons.
Garcia, currently president of Unilever Personal Care and a member of the Unilever's executive team, has more than four decades experience in global consumer products. Before joining Unilever in 2020, he was CEO of Revlon and served as chief operating officer for global innovation and growth at Colgate-Palmolive. Earlier in his career, he served in leadership roles at Procter & Gamble.
Garcia with his appointment will join Clorox's board and Matthew Shattock, the company's lead independent director and former board chair, will become independent chair.
On that date, Rendle will step down as CEO and as a director, while continuing to serve in an advisory capacity through April 2.
California-based Clorox is scheduled to report its first-quarter fiscal results on Monday.
