Bristol Myers Squibb Raises Fiscal Year Outlook as 3Q Revenue Rises

By Josée Rose

Bristol Myers Squibb raised its full-year revenue outlook due to higher third-quarter revenue.

The company said net income was $2.2 billion, or $1.05 a share, compared with $2.2 billion, or $1.08 a share, a year earlier.

On an adjusted basis, earnings fell to $1.35 a share. The company said both third-quarter EPS figures were hurt by 58 cents a share due to charges and licence agreements related to ongoing collaborations.

Revenue increased 7% to $13.1 billion.

Analysts were expecting earnings of $1.10 a share and revenue of $12.73 billion, according to FactSet.

Bristol Myers said its growth portfolio revenue increase was driven by Opdivo Qvantig, Breyanzi, Reblozyl, Camzyos and Opdualag, while its legacy portfolio revenue was weighed down by expected continued generic impacts.

The company added that its focus remains on "high-impact, transformational medicines to treat life-threatening diseases."

Bristol Myers raised its full year revenue guidance to a range of $49.75 billion to $50.25 billion due to continued momentum across its portfolio. However, it cut its adjusted earnings per share view to $6.35 to $6.55 a share, inclusive of a 60 cent-per-share impact from charges and licensing income.

Wall Street analysts are expecting full-year revenue of $49.9 billion and adjusted earnings of $6.33 a share.
