TotalEnergies Profit Surges on High Energy Prices
By Adria Calatayud
TotalEnergies reported a surge in third-quarter net profit, as the French energy major got a boost from high energy prices and refining margins.
Net profit for the quarter was $8.26 billion, compared with $3.68 billion for the same period last year, TotalEnergies said Thursday.
On an adjusted basis, the company's net profit jumped to $9.1 billion from $3.98 billion, beating analysts' expectations of $8.73 billion, according to consensus estimates provided by Visible Alpha.
Revenue climbed to $61.86 billion from $43.84 billion.
TotalEnergies said it benefited from a high-price environment characterized by historically high refining-margin levels and a favorable natural-gas market, and that its trading operations outperformed at levels comparable with the prior two quarters.
The company anticipates average liquefied-natural-gas selling prices to rise in the fourth quarter. Fourth-quarter production is expected to grow by more than 3% when excluding the impact from the Middle East conflict, which is abating, it added.
TotalEnergies declared its third interim dividend for the year to 0.90 euros ($1) a share, up 5.9% on year but flat compared with its prior quarterly payout, and said that it would buy back shares valued at $2.5 billion in both the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027, as previously indicated.
