L'Oreal Eyes Profit Rise This Year as Sales Keep Growing

By Joshua Kirby

French beauty giant L'Oreal said it expects its bottom line to grow this year after sales beat expectations for the most recent quarter.

The owner of skincare and cosmetics brands like Maybelline, Garnier and La Roche-Posay booked sales of 11.56 billion euros ($12.98 billion) between July and September, it said Thursday. That marks a 7.2% increase, like-for-like, from the same period a year earlier. The group had been expected to record sales of 11.23 billion euros, according to an average of estimates compiled by Visible Alpha.

For the year to date, all L'Oreal's divisions contributed to total sales growth of 6.9%. The professional products business--which sells premium haircare labels--grew more than 12% on year, while dermatological beauty sales increased by nearly 12% too.

Looking ahead, L'Oreal Chief Executive Nicolas Hieronimus said the company should report another year of growth in sales and profit.

"All this underpins my conviction that we are better positioned than ever to win in the long run, leveraging AI to augment the strengths of the L'Oreal model," Hieronimus said.
