Goldman Sachs to Put $500 Million Toward Boosting AI Use at Small Businesses

By Kelly Cloonan

Goldman Sachs said it's aiming to boost entrepreneurs' artificial-intelligence adoption as part of a new $500 million commitment toward its small-business initiative.

With the commitment, the bank is establishing an institute that will provide AI training and tools to U.S. entrepreneurs through partnerships with AI companies Anthropic, Google, Meta and OpenAI, the firm said Thursday.

In addition to AI education, the institute will publish research on AI use by small businesses and support AI-enabled expansions to access to capital for small businesses, Goldman said.

"Every major technology shift has rewarded the businesses that adapt most quickly. This commitment makes sure the entrepreneurs who are creating America's jobs can lead in the AI economy," Goldman Chief Executive David Solomon said.

Goldman said it has invested in small businesses for more than a decade through its 10,000 Small Businesses program, a $1.25 billion commitment that aims to provide business education and access to capital for entrepreneurs. Nearly 20,000 entrepreneurs across the U.S. have completed the program since its launch in 2010, the firm said.
