By Elias Schisgall

Meta Platforms reported record revenue in the third quarter, and said it is creating a new class of non-voting stock to raise capital for its artificial-intelligence investments. The stock gained 2% to $711.31 in after-hours trading on Wednesday.

Tesla reported a lower profit and flat sales in the third quarter, as executives said that a battery shortage is holding up its production. Shares were down 2.3% at $377.48 after initially trading in the green following the closing bell.

IBM's profit and revenue rose in the third quarter, as around two-thirds of the deals the company meant to close in the previous quarter were wrapped up. Shares initially surged as high as 11% in after-hours trading, but fell into the red and were recently down 4.8% at $239.50.

Lam Research said that artificial-intelligence demand in Asia propelled a more-than-50% increase in first-quarter sales, and guided for second-quarter adjusted earnings with a midpoint in-line with analyst expectations. The stock fell 6.3% to $244.50.
