América Móvil Posts Higher 3Q Profit

MEXICO CITY--Telecommunications company América Móvil registered a 7% increase in third-quarter net profit as revenue and operating gains increased from the year-earlier period.

América Móvil reported profit of 24.28 billion Mexican pesos ($1.32 billion) for the July-September period, up from MXN22.7 billion in the third quarter of 2025. Profit was equivalent to MXN0.41 a share or $0.47 an American depositary receipt.

Revenue in the quarter rose 7.6% to MXN250.63 billion, including a 7.2% increase in service revenue, boosted in part by the depreciation of the Mexican peso in September which wiped out the currency's gains from the first two months of the quarter, América Móvil said. In constant currency terms, service revenue rose 5.3%.

The weaker peso led to higher financial costs with a MXN3.6 billion exchange loss against a MXN6.3 billion exchange gain in the year-earlier quarter.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization--a measure of profitability--rose 8.9% to MXN102.16 billion, and was up 6.7% in constant currencies. Operating profit rose 14% to MXN57.11 billion.

América Móvil added 3.1 million mobile subscribers during the quarter, led by Brazil, while disconnecting 5 million prepaid lines largely in Mexico and Colombia to end the quarter with 332.4 million mobile subscribers. The company added 390,000 broadband customers to end the quarter with 38.2 million. Total subscriptions to fixed-line services edged up 0.2% to 80.3 million.
