A joint venture between RTX and Lockheed Martin has received a $215 million contract from the U.S. Army to produce launchers for a missile system.

The companies said Monday the contract is for Lightweight Command Launch Units for the Javelin weapon system.

The launcher is designed to be smaller, lighter and more capable than the system's legacy command launch unit, the companies said.

The LWCLU aims to be adaptable and compatible with all current, past and future Javelin variants, the companies said.
