RHB Bank Seeks More Time for Tokio Marine Insurance Deal Talks
By Ying Xian Wong
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia--RHB Bank has sought an extension from Bank Negara Malaysia to conclude negotiations with Tokio Marine Asia over the proposed integration of their Malaysian insurance businesses.
The Malaysian lender said in a bourse filing late Friday that both parties have made meaningful progress, including on due diligence and key commercial terms.
Under the proposal, RHB Bank could sell its entire stake in RHB Insurance and retain up to a 35% interest in the enlarged entity, which would combine RHB Insurance with Tokio Marine Insurans (Malaysia).
