Air Canada, United to Add New U.S.-Canada Routes in Expanded Partnership
By Elias Schisgall
Air Canada and United Airlines will add new routes between the U.S. and Canada as part of an expanded partnership between the two airlines.
The Canadian airline will serve flights between Toronto and Louisville, Montreal and Indianapolis, and Edmonton and Newark, as well expand capacity on its route between Edmonton and San Francisco. The new routes are set to launch next summer.
United Airlines will boost its service to Canada with routes from Denver to Ottawa and Quebec City and seasonal service between Newark and St. John's. United also plans to increase capacity on its Washington, D.C.-Quebec City and Denver-Winnipeg routes.
The two airlines also agreed to renew and expand their Transborder Joint Business Agreement, originally signed in 2022. The companies have submitted an application for approval by Transport Canada, the government agency responsible for transportation policies and programs.
"Our schedule has grown every year since our transborder agreement was signed in 2022, and the new routes and flights we're announcing today further underscore our commitment to investing in Canada and making travel between our two countries easier," said Patrick Quayle, United senior vice president of Global Network Planning and Alliances.
More than 4.3 million people have flown jointly on United and Air Canada since the agreement, Air Canada said.
