NiSource Signs 20-Year Energy Supply Deal With Microsoft for Indiana Data Center

NiSource has signed a long-term deal with Microsoft to provide energy for the technology company's data center campus in Indiana.
Under the agreement, Microsoft will begin taking electric service under a 20-year term starting in 2028, the companies said Friday.
The agreement follows a structure designed to serve new large-load customers while protecting existing Northern Indiana Public Service Company electric customers from incremental costs. As such, Microsoft will fully fund the generation and infrastructure required to serve its load, the companies said.
NiSource said it expects the agreement to expand customer savings. It expects total Northern Indiana Public Service Company electric customer savings of about $1.75 billion over the life of all of its data center customer contracts, up from a previous projection of $1.4 billion before the Microsoft deal.
