Sweden's EQT to Buy Stockbridge for Up to $550 Million in Property Push

By Adria Calatayud

Sweden's EQT AB said it agreed to buy U.S. property investment manager Stockbridge in a deal valued at up to $550 million, as it seeks to diversify its real-estate business.

EQT said Thursday that it is paying $375 million in cash upon closing and that an additional $175 million might be payable over the 2027-30 period, subject to performance targets.

Stockbridge brings around $16.5 billion in fee-generating assets under management and aims to help EQT Real Estate evolve into a more diversified platform and strengthen its position as an investor and operator, EQT said.

The deal comes weeks after EQT closed its acquisition of Coller Capital for up to $3.7 billion at the end of August, which increased the group's fee-generating assets at the end of the third quarter to 195 billion euros ($217.61 billion), up from 139 billion euros a year before. Total assets under management stood at 354 billion euros.

EQT said it is experiencing strong fundraising momentum in a challenging market environment.

The group's funds invested 7 billion euros in the third quarter, while total gross fund exits amounted to 3 billion euros.

All key funds continue to perform on or above plan, EQT said.
