United Airlines Offers Starlink on Nearly Half of Daily Flights

United Airlines said it now offers Elon Musk's in-flight Wi-Fi service on nearly half its daily departures, and plans to complete installations by the end of 2027.

The carrier said Thursday that SpaceX's Starlink is live on more than 635 of its aircraft, and that it is installing the service on about 20 aircraft per week.

United also extended its "Switch to Better Wi-Fi" offer, which allows eligible Delta and American Airlines loyalty members to earn United's Premier rewards status through January 2028 by meeting the offer's spending requirements and taking a United flight within 90 days.

The program will now run an extra week than initially planned, until Oct. 22. Thousands of customers have taken advantage of the offer since it kicked off Oct. 1, United said.

United was among the first U.S. airlines to say it would bring Starlink onboard. American said last week it would provide Starlink on all of its mainline jets, targeting installations beginning early next year. Delta, meanwhile, has held out, opting for Amazon's in-flight Wi-Fi offering instead.

"Starlink gives customers even more reasons to choose United and keep coming back," said Andrew Nocella, United's chief commercial officer, noting "overwhelmingly positive feedback" from customers and strong response to its status-match offer.

United also said it is allowing customers to check whether Starlink will be available on their upcoming flight using a digital tracker tool, which it said it built in response to customer demand.
