Lockheed Martin to Expand Munitions-Making Capacity
By Katherine Hamilton
Lockheed Martin is expanding its manufacturing capacity to produce munitions.
The contractor plans to add 6,000 jobs in the U.S., 2,000 of which will be in Texas.
The expansion is centered around Lockheed's operation in Grand Prairie, Texas. The company plans to invest $300 million at the site and expand its manufacturing footprint to more than 735,000 square feet.
The expansion includes 100,000 square feet of new space and 85,000 square feet of office space being converted into advanced manufacturing space.
Lockheed is also working with the manufacturing company Hadrian to bring an automated machining cell to the Grand Prairie facility. The cell is expected to be operational in early 2027.
