Netflix Lands Exclusive Rights in Spain and Andorra to FIFA World Cup 2030
By Robb M. Stewart
Netflix has secured the exclusive rights to broadcast the next soccer World Cup in Spain and Andorra, part of its drive to add more live sports to its platform to keep subscribers on board and attract advertisers.
Netflix will offer all 104 matches of the Fifa World Cup 2030, which will mark the tournament's 100th anniversary, in Spain and Andora, with defending champion Spain one of three host countries alongside Morocco and Portugal.
The broadcaster said it plans full live coverage of the tournament, including pre-game, halftime and post-game shows from a distinctive Spanish perspective, as well as a daily round-up show on match days and other programming in the lead-up to the tournament.
One game per matchday will be available for free in Spain.
The exclusive rights build on Netflix's relationship with FIFA. It also holds broadcast rights to the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 and 2031 in the U.S. and Canada.
