Shares of power producers were more or less flat as traders bet electricity demand will continue to rise due to the artificial-intelligence boom.
The utilities industry group, which is sensitive to rising Treasury yields, remains deep in the red for the year to date.
The yield on the 30-year Treasury bond closed a hair's breadth from 24-year highs.
