Ferrovial Consortium Awarded $3.27 Billion Czech Highway Project
By Andrea Figueras
Ferrovial said that it would develop a section of the D35 highway in the Czech Republic for around 2.9 billion euros, or $3.27 billion.
The infrastructure group said late Tuesday that it would participate in the project, under a public-private partnership, through its highways division, Cintra, and its Polish subsidiary Budimex.
The Czech Ministry of Transport selected the consortium, formed by Cintra, Budimex, Strabag and Invesis, as preferred bidder after the tender was submitted in July.
The project comprises the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of D35 sections, totaling 35.4 kilometers of the new highway. It also includes the operation and maintenance of another section, bringing the total network under management to some 52 kilometers.
The project, which is expected to improve connectivity and relieve traffic congestion, involves the construction of two tunnels.
The concession will have a term of 28 years from financial close, the company said.
