ICE Closing Review: Canola Slowly Increases

WINNIPEG -- Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange made modest gains on Tuesday, despite a stronger Canadian dollar and mixed sentiment in comparable oils.

Crude oil was steady, erasing losses from earlier in the day. While Middle Eastern exports have increased as of late, the U.S. Energy Information Administration raised its price forecasts for 2026 and 2027 today to US$98 and US$84 per barrel, respectively.

On Monday, United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order to make highway tax-exempt, red-dyed diesel more broadly available nationwide.

Chicago soyoil rose while Malaysian palm oil was down. The November European rapeseed contract fell but deferred contracts were higher.

At mid-afternoon, the Canadian dollar was up two-tenths of a U.S. cent compared to Monday's close.

There were 76,249 canola contracts traded on Tuesday, compared to Monday when 86,244 contracts changed hands. Spreads accounted for 49,288 contracts in today's trade.

Settlement prices are in Canadian dollars per metric tonne.
