Uber to Acquire Business Catering Platform ezCater for $2.3 Billion
By Adriano Marchese
Uber Technologies has agreed to acquire catering and workplace meals platform ezCater in an all-cash transaction valued at $2.3 billion.
EzCater is a food technology platform used primarily in workplaces in the U.S., which supports everything from meetings, events, and recurring enterprise catering needs.
The deal gives Uber Eats access to ezCater's network of more than 140,000 restaurants across the country and over $2.5 billion in annual gross bookings.
Uber said that the business is profitable on an adjusted operating income basis and is expected to be margin accretive, driven by ezCater's average order values of over $400 apiece.
The company plans to integrate ezCater B2B catering capabilities across both Uber Eats and its Uber for Business platforms.
The transaction is expected to close in the coming months, it said.
