Industrial Shares Rise as U.S. Activity Keeps Humming — Industrials Roundup
Shares of industrial and transportation companies rose as U.S. factory orders rose slightly in August, though not as much as expected, according to the Census Bureau.
Tesla's global sales fell in the third quarter, reversing gains from the first half of the year. The electric-vehicle maker sold 486,532 electric vehicles globally in the period from July to September, down 2% from the same time last year, the company said.
Ford Motor sold fewer vehicles in the third quarter than a year ago, as the phaseout of two of its models offset growth for some of its trucks and large sport-utility-vehicles. The carmaker said it sold 509,764 vehicles for the quarter through September, down 6.6% from the year-ago period.
Volvo Car scrapped its full-year guidance after warning that challenges in its key Chinese and U.S. markets led to lower-than-expected third-quarter sales and a weaker outlook.
Raytheon said it was awarded a contract valued at up to $24.4 billion to supply Standard Missile-6 interceptors to the U.S. Navy. The contract is for an initial term of five years and contains two additional option years, the company added.
