Canadian Pacific Kansas City Sets September, 3Q Grain Transport Records in Canada, U.S.

By Adriano Marchese

Canadian Pacific Kansas City set a new all-time record for transporting grain across Canada and the U.S. during both September 2026 and the entire third quarter.

The Canadian railroad transported 2.94 million metric tons and 30,324 carloads of grain and grain products in September in Canada, the second record month in a row to begin the 2026-2027 crop year.

The results come after another record month in August, where it shipped 2.54 million metric tons of grain and grain products in Canada, representing 26,051 carloads.

In the U.S., CP Rail moved 2.51 million tons and 26,236 carloads, capping off the quarter and setting a third-quarter record for carloads and metrics tons in U.S. grain.

The momentum is carrying on from the previous crop year, which had set a new annual record for transporting Canadian grain and grain products.

The company noted that all its new records this month and quarter topped marks previously set in 2020.
