Banco Santander Hikes Interim Dividend By 10%
By Michael Hennessey
Banco Santander raised its interim dividend by slightly over 10% to 12.7 euro cents per share (14 cents).
The Spanish bank said the dividend, up from 11.5 euro cents last year, will be payable from Nov. 2.
Total shareholder remuneration for the first half of 2026 will amount to around 3.7 billion euros, Santander said, equivalent to around 50% of its underlying profit for the period.
It will be split roughly evenly between the cash dividend and the 1.8 billion euro share buyback program launched in August.
Including the current buyback, Santander said it will have delivered around 9 billion euros toward its plan to distribute at least 10 billion euros through share buybacks for 2025 and 2026.
In July, the bank said it is on track to meet its targets for 2026, and reaffirmed its midterm objectives.
